Commissioner of Internal Affairs
The Commissioner for Internal Affairs is responsible for helping oversee the successful advancement of the active members of the FAM team. As the person of contact within the Board for the Committee Chairs, the Commissioner for Internal Affairs is able to assist in facilitating a healthy relationship between all the active members and establish a strong flow of communication between the Chairs and the Board. The Commissioner for Internal Affairs is also tasked with closely overseeing the Events, Families, and Travel committees. Furthermore, the Commissioner for Internal Affairs holds the Human Resource responsibilities and is the designated head of HR. All in all, within this role, you work closely with the Board as well as the Chairs to maintain a safe(r) space where all team members are able to efficiently operate together towards the goal of sustainable growth for the association.
Specific job duties:
- Communicating with fellow board members and committee chairs
- Making contracts and ensuring that the guidelines are met
- Overseeing the Events and Family committees.
- Communicating with the chairs about project and event expectations and goals
- Be the contact person team-wide for any HR-related issues and take appropriate action in confidentiality.
- Conduct progress interviews with committee members.
- Manage team and board bonding activities.
- Collecting and analyzing feedback from the committee members and facilitating feedback sessions team-wide.
- Write internal communications documents, including handouts and emails, to inform team members of important notices.
- Monitor code of conduct compliance across all FAM activities.
Requirements:
- Affinity with diversity & inclusion.
- Organizational experience
- 8 -12 hours per week available.
- Available for the whole academic year
- Good organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Fluency in English (both written and verbal).
- Detail-oriented and proactive: you think ahead and you are a problem solver.
- Team player as well as someone who can work independently and autonomously.
- Creative mindset with the ability to come up with new ideas and solutions to optimize the team member’s experiences.
- Able to maintain confidentiality.
