Chair (Vacancy)
As the Chair you are responsible for leading and coordinating the board. You ensure this by leading the weekly Board Meetings and keeping good contact with your fellow board members outside the meetings. By doing this you oversee the progress of the whole association. In addition, throughout the whole year, you play one of the most crucial roles in the long-term vision and strategy of the association. If there’s no time to discuss a matter, or when there is no consensus in the board, it is up to the Chair to make the final decision. Lastly, a main task of the Chair is being the contact person for several primary parties, such as the VU and sponsors.
Specific job duties:
- Leading and coordinating the board
- Leading the board meetings
- Working closely with the Secretary and the Treasurer
- Overseeing the progress of the association
- Keeping an overview of the annual plan/agenda
- Informed of all the activities within the association and helping where necessary
- Ensuring the sustainability of the association
- Responsible for the vision and strategy
- Representative of the association during formal events/settings
- Networking
- Maintaining external contact with partners (VU and sponsors)
- Leading the General Member meetings
- Making final decisions
- Giving speeches and writing reports
Requirements:
- Affinity with diversity and inclusion
- Organizational and leadership experience
- 8-12 hours a week available
- Available for the whole academic year 2023-2024
- Good organizational, social and time management skills
- Fluent in English and Dutch (both written and verbally)
- Long-term vision and strategy
- Critical thinking, problem solving
- Having authority as well as being a team player
- Confident, flexible and open minded
- Helicopter overview
- Able to maintain confidentiality
