Chair

As the Chair you are responsible for leading and coordinating the board. You ensure this by leading the weekly Board Meetings and keeping good contact with your fellow board members outside the meetings. By doing this you oversee the progress of the whole association. In addition, throughout the whole year, you play one of the most crucial roles in the long-term vision and strategy of the association. If there’s no time to discuss a matter, or when there is no consensus in the board, it is up to the Chair to make the final decision. Lastly, a main task of the Chair is being the contact person for several primary parties, such as the VU and sponsors. 

Specific job duties

  • Leading the board meetings 
  • Coordinating the board
  • Keeping an overview of the annual plan, agenda
  • Overseeing the progress, vision and strategy of the association
  • Representative and contact person of the association
  • Attend various meetings with stakeholders and organizational tasks
  • Informed of all the activities within the associatio and helping where necessary
  • Ensuring the sustainability of the association
  • Giving speeches and writing reports 

Requirements:

  • Affinity with diversity and inclusion 
  • Organizational and leadership experience 
  • 10 – 16 hours a week available 
  • Available for the whole academic year 
  • Good organizational, social and time management skills
  • Fluent in English and Dutch (both written and verbally)
  • Long-term vision and strategy
  • Critical thinking, problem solving
  • Having authority as well as being a team player
  • Confident, flexible and open minded
  • Helicopter overview
  • Able to maintain confidentiality
